Post-Bowl

After a thrilling Super Bowl Sunday – in which it was once again proven that New England sucks – we find ourselves realizing that winter (what we’ve had of one) is actually winding down, and we start turning our attention towards a new season.

What this means in the studio:  new bike builds are starting to trickle in. Folks who have recovered from the bills of the holidays are now scouring the internet picking out frames and components – proving that the optimal number of bikes is always n+1, n being the number of bikes you currently own.

We also appreciate this time of the year for the anticipation it brings: new teams are being formed, racers are being traded, and everyone is starting to get fit (or at least starting to talk about it seriously – you know who you are). One thing we are really looking forward to is the new SRAM Red group. Almost everything about this group is a game-changer in the world of cabled systems (yes, we are doing so many Di2 installs even we are surprised). But from the new “Yaw Technology” on the front derailleur, to the integrated Quarq cranks, to the elastomers between the cogs on the cassette, there isn’t a single thing here that hasn’t made us say “Wow”.  We’ll be talking a lot more about Red in the near future, but if you’re on the fence deciding on a top-level group, give us a call and we’ll talk you through the feature set.

Next week we’ll get to fast-forward to early summer as we join EnduranceWerx on their San Diego training camp. We’ll be providing race-level support for the duration of the camp, and we have to say we can think of worse gigs to take in February. If you’re participating in the camp – we’ll see you next week, otherwise stay tuned for some updates. (February 17-20)

And speaking of training, we are getting excited for our sponsorship of the new Champion System p/b Stan’s No Tubes to hit the road, literally. Check out their new site for news and results throughout the season. We have it on good authority they’re going to have some tricks up their sleeve in the world of social media.
